Bandung is a very nice city, less traffic (more chaotic in terms of public transportation : angkot) and cooler weather. And don't get me started about the foods.. !! I could go on forever listing all these favourite places I used to go to satisfy my hunger. Some of them are Sari Wangi, Bumi Sangkuriang (BS), Teko, BR (Bagus Rangin), Mie naripan (the noodle place), Gardu Jati, RotBak, Seafood Sulanjana, Yoghurt Cisangkuy, Lembang.. -sigh- In terms of shopping malls, they're nothing compare to Jakarta of course, but it's all right. We go to BIP (Bandung Indah Plaza) for everything ; shopping, movie, etc. Clubs and pubs are also not that many but quite good. O'Hara Tavern and Pink Cadillac are among the favourites. Polo is the techno-kind-of disco which I didn't favor much. And there are some other new ones which I haven't visited since I live here. Last time when I went home (December '98), at night there are lots of little cozy cafes along the Dago street, stretching from Simpang to Gelael and further more. There's where most Bandung youths hang out nowadays apparently. Urg.. enough talking about it.. I miss home.. -snif-
I can say that I had the best 4 years in my life here, when I went to Parahyangan University for my bachelor degree. I was in the School of Social and Political Science majoring in International Relation. My interest is in terrorism (no, I'm NOT a dangerous woman) so I did a thesis about ETA - Basque Terrorist Group in Spain. Yupp.. graduated with that..
RabenRabeners (we called them that because their house is in Raben St) consist of : Mimi, Ifi, Olla, Pima, Shinta and Mamay. Later on when Shinta graduated, Lala took over the room (Mimi's sister). Mimi is my best dive buddy back home. Nothing compare to her. BujarBujarers (they live in Bujar St, obvious enough..) consist of lots of people and some of my good friends are : Feby, Ranni, Meera, Shanti Unyil, Joddy, Wiena, Kartun, Upi, Abram, etc.
